The Antioxidant Study
We are seeking participants for a new nutritional study evaluating the absorption of two different forms of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)—a naturally occurring nutrient produced by your body and antioxidant vital for energy production. CoQ10 is also found in foods like meat, fish, and nuts.
The purpose of this study is to compare how well the body absorbs a standard CoQ10 supplement to a newly designed, high-absorption CoQ10 product. Participation will span approximately 3 to 6 weeks and involve five in-clinic visits, including an initial screening and two main testing periods. During the two test days, participants will stay at the clinic for approximately 10 hours, consume the assigned supplement alongside a standardized breakfast, eat only the provided clinic meals, and provide multiple blood samples via an IV catheter. Eligible individuals must be willing to fast for 10 to 14 hours before each visit, avoid alcohol and vigorous exercise for 24 hours prior, discontinue all dietary supplements, and track their food intake while avoiding foods naturally high in CoQ10.
If qualified, you may be compensated up to $1200 for completing all visits and study tasks. You will also be provided with a complimentary, standardized breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening snacks.
Qualified participants must:
- Be a generally healthy adult; 21-65 years of age
- Have a BMI ≥ 18.5 to 34.9 kg/m2
- Have good vein access
- Attend two 10-hour visits with an IV catheter placed in the arm for multiple blood draws
- Discontinue all dietary supplements throughout the study
Space is very limited! This study will only enroll 24 participants.
